[9:22]  1 tn The Hebrew term is רֹאֶה (roeh, “seer”), an older word for נָבִיא (navi’, “prophet”).

[9:22]  2 tn Heb “they – David appointed, and Samuel the seer, in their position.”

[9:23]  3 tn Heb “and they and their sons to the gates of the house of the Lord, of the house of the tent, [were assigned] as guards.”

Traditionally some have interpreted this as a reference to being a doorkeeper at the temple, though some understand it to mean “lie as a beggar at the entrance to the temple” (see HALOT 765 s.v. ספף).

[84:10]  15 tn The verb דּוּר (dur, “to live”) occurs only here in the OT.
